The Best Cordless Vacuums Under $200 for Apartments on Amazon (2026)

By Erin Mitchell · Updated June 2026

Independent editorial guide. We never accept payment for coverage.

Quick Take

Under $200, the honest answer for an apartment is the Tineco A11 Hero at $199. It is the closest thing to Dyson feel at this price, with a removable battery and enough suction for low-pile rugs and hard floors. If $199 is too much, the Shark Pet Stick at $130 is the budget brand-name pick.

The tradeoff to know: a real Dyson does not exist under $200. If you can stretch to $350, the Dyson V8 is the honest next step up. Below $200, you are choosing between Tineco's build quality and the lighter Black+Decker or Bissell sticks at $145, which are easier to carry but give up some suction on rugs.

Jump to the four cordless sticks and the one handheld companion we'd actually buy under $200 for an apartment. See picks ↓

Tineco A11 Hero Cordless Stick Vacuum

Search results for cordless vacuums under $200 are flooded with no-name brands selling rebranded 8-in-1 sticks that look like Dyson knockoffs and break inside a year. The real under-$200 market is smaller than it looks, but it is not empty.

There are four cordless stick vacuums from brands you actually recognize at this price point: Tineco at the top of the cap, Black+Decker and Bissell in the $145 middle, and Shark at $130. Plus a Black+Decker Dustbuster handheld at $35 for the spots a stick can't reach. Those are the picks here.

What you actually get under $200 in a cordless vacuum

The honest version of this category: under $200, you are not getting a Dyson, you are not getting the V15 Detect's laser, and you are not getting 60 minutes of runtime on max suction. What you are getting is a stick vacuum from a real brand with around 25 to 40 minutes of runtime, enough suction for an apartment with hard floors and area rugs, and a battery that will last 2 to 3 years before noticeably degrading.

That is enough for most apartments. A 600 to 900 square foot apartment with mixed flooring takes 15 to 20 minutes to vacuum end to end, well inside the runtime of every pick on this list. The places these vacuums struggle are thick wall-to-wall carpet and homes with multiple shedding pets, which is where the price climbs past $200 fast.

Tineco A11 Hero, best non-Dyson under $200

Tineco is the brand that earned a reputation in this price band by making cordless sticks that feel built rather than thrown together. The A11 Hero at $199 sits right at the top of the cap and gives you the closest thing to Dyson fit-and-finish without the Dyson price.

The two features that matter most for a renter: the battery is removable, so when it eventually loses capacity in 2 to 3 years you replace the battery instead of the whole vacuum. And the motorized brush head actually drives forward on its own, which sounds minor until you have used a $90 stick vacuum that you have to push across the rug.

Runtime lands around 40 minutes on eco mode and closer to 25 minutes on the higher suction setting. The dirt cup is small, around 0.6 liters, which means you empty it more often than a corded vacuum. That is the universal tradeoff for every cordless stick at this price, not a Tineco-specific problem.

Black+Decker vs Bissell at $145, brand-name choice

If $199 is too much, the middle of the cordless market under $200 is a coin flip between Black+Decker and Bissell, both at around $145. Both are name brands that have been making vacuums for decades. Both are lighter than the Tineco, which matters if you live in a walkup or have to carry the vacuum between floors.

The Black+Decker POWERSERIES is the lighter, simpler one. It converts from a stick to a handheld by detaching the wand, which makes stair cleaning genuinely easier than with a full-length stick. Suction is honest at this price, fine for hard floors and area rugs, not strong enough for thick carpet.

The Bissell PowerForce is the slightly more vacuum-y of the two. In renter testing the Bissell pulls pet hair off low-pile rugs better than the Black+Decker, and the dirt cup is shaped so you can dump it without a cloud of dust coming back at you. The downside is the battery is integrated, so when it degrades you are replacing the whole vacuum, not just the battery.

Pick the Black+Decker if light weight and the handheld conversion matter most. Pick the Bissell if you have a pet and rugs.

Shark Pet Stick (IX141H), the budget brand-name pick

At $130, the Shark IX141H Pet Cordless Stick is the floor for a vacuum from a brand you have heard of. Shark earned its reputation on the corded NV series, and the cordless IX141H is the entry-level version of that lineage.

The pet-specific design is real, not marketing. The brushroll has a self-cleaning geometry that keeps long hair from wrapping into a solid mat, which is the main failure mode that kills cheap cordless vacuums in homes with shedding dogs or long-haired humans. The handheld detaches for stairs.

The compromise at $130: runtime is the shortest of the picks here, around 25 minutes, and suction on thick rugs is noticeably weaker than the Tineco. For a studio or one-bedroom apartment with mostly hard floors and one pet, that is a fine tradeoff for the price.

Battery and runtime reality for an apartment

Every cordless vacuum spec sheet lists a max runtime number that assumes eco mode with no motorized brush. Real-world runtime on the setting you will actually use is shorter. For the picks here, plan on 25 to 40 minutes of real use depending on the model and how much rug versus hard floor you are vacuuming.

That is enough for any apartment under 1,000 square feet. For larger spaces or homes where you vacuum 2 to 3 times a week, the Tineco's removable battery is the feature that pays off, because you can buy a second battery and swap mid-clean or replace it cheaply when it ages out. The Black+Decker, Bissell, and Shark all have integrated batteries, so when those degrade you are replacing the vacuum.

If you have $350+ to spend

The honest next step up from the under-$200 picks is the Dyson V8. At around $350 it is the cheapest Dyson cordless that is still in production, and it gets you the real Dyson suction, build quality, and 5-year battery life that the sub-$200 picks cannot match. If your budget has any room to stretch and you want one cordless vacuum to last 6 to 8 years, the V8 is the pick.

Below $350 and above $200 is mostly Shark's mid-tier cordless line, which is fine but a smaller jump in quality than going from the Tineco to the V8. If you are near the cap already, either stay at the Tineco or save up for the Dyson.

What we'd skip

The $80 to $100 Amazon search results for "cordless vacuum" are dominated by no-name brands selling visually similar 8-in-1 sticks with names like PrettyCare, KARDV, INSE, and a rotating cast of others. They all look like Dyson knockoffs. They are not. The motors are weaker, the plastics are cheaper, the batteries die inside a year, and warranty support is a returns address in a country that is not yours.

The Shark IX141H at $130 is the floor for a cordless vacuum worth buying. Anything cheaper than that is a vacuum you will be replacing in 12 to 18 months, which makes it more expensive per year than the picks above.

What owners say

Real owner reports from the threads and editorial sources we drew on for this guide.

Are you looking for like small handheld vacuum? Or like a stick vacuum? If you’re looking for handheld I have a shark that I’ve had for years and still works great and I don’t recall the price but I definitely didn’t pay over $100.

It has a cord but a shark rocket is great, 100$ or so and works really well.

if you don't mind a hand-help Bissell Pet Hair Eraser Cordless Hand Vacuum. I've had it over 2 years , great pick up and holds charge along time. Under $100

Honestly wild reccomend a little dust buster, very convenient

The cheap one's suck not in good way 😅 I am very odc about keeping things tidy. I've had to push myself to do a deep clean every other two weeks. And between the hours of 10-7. As another poster suggested a dust buster is a good bet. Personally I want to go ham when I clean.

shark stratos I bought this a few months ago... 230 as a refurbished. Loving it. Suction is great, so long as you keep the filters clean it's supposed to stay that way. The filters are easily purchased on Amazon, and are washable.. I bought backup so I can have a set drying and still be able to use it.

r/apartmentliving / Equivalent_Lab_8610

I love my little tineco. A smaller brand from what I understand but it works great for what it is.

OP! If you don’t have TikTok, download it and get this cordless vacuum! You can use a coupon and it’s only $189! It is an amazing vacuum and as someone with a dog, it’s worth every penny! Shark Vacuum

We love this vacuum for so many reasons. The charge last long enough for a clean and has great suction. No card to deal with is wonderful, but the best thing is that all parts and filters can be cleaned in the sink. We have one for each floor!!! The attachments are easy to attach and it is lightweight.

We liked this unit so much, we bought a second one for a different location. It's efficient, quiet and low maintenance. This was the only model we found with a floor charging stand, which we strongly preferred to the styles that call for hanging it on a wall. We are satisfied with how well it picks up dust and dirt, though we do NOT have any pets. Emptying the bagless container is easy.

I’ve purchased Tineco products before and accepted that they aren’t built to last forever, but I expected more than a week.

This sweeper works good especially when you turn it on high, but the battery really drops quickly on that setting. Just be aware of that b

Ckerr, verified Amazon buyer

My wife loves this. This is to replace a Shark we bought in 2019 where the powerhead for the floors failed. I could have bought a new powerhead, but why put that much money into a seven year old item?

Paul A., verified Amazon buyer

Scam.!!! They send product that does not turn on, without a manual or respective protections. I managed the return and they never sent the prepaid label. I spent 40 out of my pocket so that it can be returned and they still do not return my money.

This vacuum sucks! Better than any other stick vacuum I’ve ever owned. What a nice cordless vacuum I’ve had Black & Decker tools over the years and they’ve been great. First time I’ve seen a vacuum. The spotlight on the front is powerful but the best part is the suction. It has amazing power and the rechargeable 20 V batteries compatible with all of the 20 V Black & Decker products I don’t get impressed very easily especially with vacuums, but this little thing is a beast.

This stick vacuum has the power on hard floors! I would of gave it 5 stars but the suction is so strong when I vacuum my rugs it shuts off! I watched the video in a previous review and will glue something to the bottom so it has a bit more air flow.. Great little vacuum. I did buy 3 more batteries because the battery life ain't too great!

I called Black & Decker and submitted a warranty claim and they are sending me a replacement vacuum. So I'm changing my review to three stars because of this. It's still not good that the vacuum had problems one year and two months after I purchased it but at least Black & Decker is honoring their warranty. Hopefully this replacement will last longer.

LOVE this vacuum. So light and easy to get a good vacuum in a few minutes, we both pick it up for a quick partial house vacuum whenever we notice a need. It easily gets under a good portion of the bed and sofa, the legs of furniture, and between spaces because it's not too wide and the handle drops very low. It completely cleans cat hair and dirt/dust off our hard floor and mats, but there is so much that a few days later it's worth running it again for 5 minutes.

1) Super lightweight as described! Little to no effort to push around and take up and down stairs.

My old small vacuum died, so I purchased a replacement. The first replacement didn't do anything; it just redistributed the dirt. The second one, an Electrolux, I ordered new and what was shipped was refurbished. The noise extremely loud and when I went from a tiled floor to low pile carpeting the brush stopped working, again I returned this one. Then I found the Bissell. It works great, plenty of suction, light weight, and very maneuverable. My new best friend!

I’ve had this vacuum for two months now and I have no complaints. It picks up crumbs and my long hair with ease. It works very will on both hardwood and carpeted floors. It however, does not work well on area rugs, it just seems to stop working. It was very easy to set up, all you have to do is charge it. It is lightweight and easy to empty/clean out.

Megan Zimnicky, verified Amazon buyer

Lightweight, does a really good job picking up dirt, pet hair. Easy empty dust cup. Easy to change attachment.

Great suction, excellent longevity! Have had this to use over 409 sq ft daily for almost 2 years. It’s easy to clean, very reliable and continues to perform. 10/10 recommended

This dust buster is exactly as shown and works just great! Very handy for going up the stairs with hardwood flooring rather than hauling a vacuum. Easy to use and dump out. Would recommend!

Kim, verified Amazon buyer

Perfection!!! Great quality!! Easy to use!! Easy to set up. Durable!! Powerful suction!! I bought this to clean up around my kitty litter boxes around the house. And it sucks up every grain of kitty litter, even on the carpet!!! I love my little vacuum!! Thank you so very much!!

Lee Ann, verified Amazon buyer

I didn’t expect to love a vacuum this much, but my Black and Decker hand vacuum is basically my little cleaning superhero. It’s lightweight, super easy to grab, and the suction is surprisingly powerful for such a compact size. Crumbs, pet hair, random messes… gone in seconds. The cordless design makes it feel effortless, like I can just swoop in and save the day without dragging anything around. Plus, it’s quick to empty and get right back to work. Honestly, it makes cleaning kind of fun, which I never thought I’d say about a vacuum.
